1. Chop the apples into small chunks with the skin left on, place in a pan, cover with water and leave to cook on a medium heat for 10 minutes.
2. Once the apples have softened, mix in the sugar and squash the apples down as you do.
3. Mix in the muesli - you may need more or less depending on the size of your apples, but you want to mixture to be mostly muesli so it has a lot of nutrients.
4. Line a tray with greaseproof paper or foil, pour on the apple mixture and squash down so it's about 3cm thick, before placing in the fridge for several hours until hard.
5. Once hard, chop into bar shapes and enjoy.

Breakfast bars are ideal for an ‘on the go’ morning run - they can be made on a Sunday evening and stored for the week in the fridge, and only cost £0.66 for the batch.
